Nestled in Muldersdrift near the Swartkop Mountain in the Cradle of Humankind, Bergsig Trout Farm is a serene retreat where the Crocodile River flows for a kilometre through the property. Whether you’re an angler, or a family seeking a day of relaxation, Bergsig offers something for everyone.
Bergsig Trout Farm, managed by Heine Jordaan, has expanded its facilities and now boasts six dams, offering a wider variety of fishing experiences.
Open seven days a week, it provides opportunities for anglers and those looking for a peaceful getaway.
There are now two specimen dams dedicated to larger carp. The first specimen dam does not allow the Papgooi fishing method. The second specimen dam does allow the Papgooi method, a popular maze-based bait technique for carp.
The remaining four conventional dams generally contain tilapia (kurper), barbell, bass and carp. The 1km river running through the property offers fishing for yellow fish, carp and bass. Bass can also be found in the dams.
For those looking to stay overnight, Bergsig Trout Farm offers accommodation that can be rented out throughout the week as well as weekends which included 2 caravans for rent, two chalets: the love nest, and a family cabin.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy the convenience of the nearby Cirqlar @ Bidon restaurant, which offers delivery directly to your fishing spot.
For campers, there are camping spots available on the riverfront, equipped with PowerPoints, and conveniently located close to bathrooms with warm water.
This highlights that Bergsig Trout Farm is a destination open every day, offering diverse fishing, comfortable accommodation options, including chalets and caravans, riverside camping with amenities, and convenient dining.

Bergsig Rules
To ensure everyone has a wonderful and enjoyable time, here are a few rules we’d like you to follow.

Rules:
✔ Unhooking mat and soft net compulsory (can be rented from the shop).
✖ No raw or uncooked dry bait allowed.
✖ Barbless hooks or micro barb only.
✔ Catch and release policy in effect.
✖ Weigh slings only; no lip grippers allowed.
✖ Maximum 4 lines per swim.
✖ Only 1 hook allowed per line.
✖ No standing with fish.
✖ No holding fish by the gills.
✖ No breaking off.
✔ Minimum line weight capacity of 10 kg.
✖ No littering.
✔ Respect fellow anglers at all times.
Picnic & Camping Spots:
✔ Please respect nature and avoid littering at all times.
✖ No fires to be made on the lawn, please request one of the braai's if needed.
✔ Bonfires will need to be discussed with management.
